The propagation badge in the navbar gives you a quick read on current HF conditions without leaving the logger.
A color-coded indicator appears in the top navigation bar:
| Color | K-Index | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Green | K 0–2 | Good — bands should be open |
| Yellow | K 3–4 | Unsettled — some degradation possible |
| Red | K 5+ | Storm — expect poor HF propagation |
Click the badge to expand a popover with full solar data:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| SFI (Solar Flux Index) | Higher = better HF propagation. Typical range 70–300 |
| A-Index | 24-hour geomagnetic average. Lower is better |
| K-Index | 3-hour geomagnetic snapshot. Lower is better |
| Sunspots | Current sunspot number |
| Signal Noise | Background noise level |
| Geomagnetic Field | Qualitative field assessment |
Propagation data is fetched from HamQSL and cached server-side for 15 minutes to avoid hammering the upstream source. The badge auto-refreshes every 15 minutes while the app is open.
